John Moore confirmed as the director of Die Hard 5

What the hell are Fox executives smoking? I know it’s difficult to make a quality product, and fresh ideas are thin on the ground (or so they keep telling us), but the continued destruction of their beloved franchises is starting to get rather sad.

John Moore, a man who made the truly abysmal Max Payne, is now the confirmed director of Die Hard 5. Len Wiseman isn’t looking too bad in retrospect.

As previously reported, the film will follow super cop John McClane (Bruce Willis) to Russia, where an altercation with local forces lands him in a spot of bother. Violence will most likely ensue, but I’m not expecting a return to the series’ R-rated roots. Moore is a hack that will do whatever the bean-counters tell him.

The fate of this movie lies in the hands of Willis, who has enough power to make sure that Die Hard 5 isn’t a complete waste of time. Just don’t expect many people to be excited about it.
