It goes without saying that we love Alien around here. If there’s a better melding of sci-fi and horror, please write to us on a postcard and let us know. Because I wouldn’t want your lack of taste to corrupt my e-mails.

I’ve seen Alien on the big screen before, in an original 70s print no less. It was so old that it still had the “X” rating on the front. And while it wasn’t in tip-top shape, the majesty of Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic still shone through. 

A new book was released earlier this month, Alien Vault: The Definitive Story Behind the Film, by Empire’s Ian Nathan. We’ll have a review of that up for you soon, but the title has sparked a great little event in October that hardcore xenomorph fans won’t want to miss: A screening of the film in London, with Associate Producer Ivor Powell, and Special Effects Supervisor Brian Johnson, in attendance. Nathan will be on hand to lead a Q&A as well as a book signing.
